The above reflects the anticipated annual salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The nurse practitioner functions as an independent care provider in collaboration with the medical/surgical staff. Their advance practice is characterized by comprehensive health assessments and management of patients with acute and/or chronic health problems.

Assess and manage common health problems

Radiology, laboratories and ECG s

Prescribe pharmacological agents and non pharmacological treatments for appropriate medical conditions

Educate patients and/or families regarding disease process, medical intervention and health promotion,

Document patient teaching

Refers and communicates pertinent abnormalities to medical director/medical specialist

Performs clinical procedures (in addition to RN functions)

Removal of invasive drains, lines and catheters, debridement of superficial wound, and perform arterial blood gases

Serves as a resource for nursing and ancillary staff in regards to patient and disease management

Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure

Licensed Registered Nurse in the state or New Jersey

Certified Nurse Practitioner in the state of New Jersey

Masters prepared in Nursing from an accredited program, ACLS certified

Discusses plan of care with MD s and multidisciplinary team

Evaluates pertinent diagnostic tests (including radiology, laboratory, ECG, echo, cardiac cath report) in accordance with NP protocol

Handles medical problems and emergencies under supervision of attendings

Documents in progress notes, writes orders and performs H&P if requested
