Hospice Companion Volunteer

If you have an hour or more per week to give, Gentiva/Heartland Hospice welcomes your gifts of time and compassion. Whether you choose to work directly with patients and families or to volunteer in one of many ways, you can make a profound difference in someone's life, including your own. Volunteers are an integral part of the hospice team.

Volunteers provide emotional support and practical assistance the enhances the comfort and quality of life for patients, their families and loved ones.

Companionship volunteers work directly with patients providing companionship, offering friendly visits, reading to patients, watching TV/movies, talking about current events, writing letters, running errands, preparing a meal, offering a gentle touch or sharing a quiet moment.

Hospice volunteers often say their experience is personally rewarding and emotionally meaningful to help those in need at a critical point in their lives. Your volunteer work is significant and can make a profound impact on the quality of others' lives.

We support a wide area, and visits would be set up convenient to you. Areas covered: Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Smithfield and Portsmouth.
