Location: Sussex Campus Hospital, Milford, Delaware

Status: Full Time 72 Hours Biweekly

Shift: Nights 12-Hour Shifts

Salary Range: $37.98 - $58.87 hourly

General Summary
5B at the Bayhealth Sussex campus is a 24 bed Progressive Care Unit. The unit is equipped with 5 ICU headboards. This unit participates in Nurse Governance, Nurse Residency and has excellent teamwork and leadership. 5B was recently awarded the AACN Silver level Beacon Award; this prestigious national award recognizes hospital units that demonstrate exceptional patient outcomes, healthy work environment and sustained commitment to evidence-based nursing practice. Responsibilities

Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.

Develop a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.

Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.

Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.

Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.

Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.

Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.

Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.

Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.

Demonstrate quality, safe and effective patient care.

Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.

Demonstrate standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.

Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)

Participate in decision making and take actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)

Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.

All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience

Associate Degree Nursing

or Nursing Diploma.

Registered Nurse Basic Life Support.

ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe.

Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview.

Experience: Required. Preferred: Experience in relevant specialty.
