Litigation Defense Attorney (REMOTE)

Dycio & Biggs is a Fairfax, Virginia law firm providing representation in both criminal defense and civil matters. We are seeking a motivated civil litigation attorney to join our office immediately and support our civil practice, including labor and employment matters, contract disputes, and general civil litigation.

We are looking for an attorney with sound legal judgment, strong research and writing skills, and a commitment to responsive, personalized client service. The successful candidate will work closely with our attorneys and support staff throughout all stages of civil representation, from initial case evaluation and strategy through discovery, motions practice, settlement negotiations, and trial.

Our firm values professionalism, ethical practice, clear communication, and collaborative teamwork. Prior civil litigation and labor and employment law experience is preferred but not required. Attorneys beginning their careers are encouraged to apply.

Required Skills:

Responsibilities

Handle assigned civil matters from inception through resolution, working collaboratively with the firm’s attorneys.

Evaluate claims, defenses, and supporting evidence; assist in developing and implementing case strategies.

Advise clients on their legal rights, obligations, available options, and potential outcomes.

Conduct legal research and draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, settlement agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents.

Prepare and respond to discovery, review document productions, and participate in conducting and defending depositions.

Prepare for and represent clients at hearings, conferences, mediations, and trials, as assigned.

Participate in settlement negotiations and other dispute resolution efforts.

Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, significant developments, deadlines, and next steps.

Coordinate with opposing counsel, courts, experts, witnesses, and other parties.

Maintain accurate case files, comply with procedural rules and filing deadlines, and enter time promptly.

Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to keep matters organized and moving forward.

Uphold ethical standards, protect client confidentiality, and exercise sound legal judgment.

Required Experience:

Qualifications

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Active license to practice law in Virginia and membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.

Strong legal research and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret and apply statutes, case law, and regulations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines.

Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.

Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with attorneys and support staff.

Willingness to learn, take initiative, and develop litigation and advocacy skills.

Prior experience in civil litigation, labor and employment law, contract disputes, negotiation, or courtroom advocacy is preferred but not required.

Schedule and Office Attendance

This is a full-time, in-office position. Remote work is not available. Regular, punctual attendance in our Fairfax office is mandatory , except when attending court or fulfilling other work-related obligations outside the office.

Regular office hours are:

Monday–Thursday: 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

Friday: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

The position requires flexibility to accommodate court schedules, client needs, filing deadlines, and trial preparation, which may extend beyond regular office hours.

Compensation

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
