Shift Medical Housekeeper

The Medical Housekeeper performs essential cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing duties throughout the Alaska Native Medical Center campus. This vital role directly supports patient recovery and staff safety by ensuring hospital rooms, outpatient facilities, and common areas remain hygienic, safe, and well-presented.

Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of assigned areas, including patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, construction areas and public spaces.
Use and maintain cleaning tools, carts, and PPE according to safety standards.
Safely handle and transport regulated medical waste and soiled linen.
Follow hospital protocols for high-touch surfaces, waste removal, and restocking supplies.
Replenish room supplies and replace disposable items per stocking standards.
Support terminal cleaning for discharged patients, including contact precaution rooms.
Document completed tasks using checklists and/or digital logs.
Distribute linen to clinical departments and document accurately.
Perform post-cleaning validation checks before declaring the room ready for the next patient.
Respond to calls for service requests professionally and efficiently.
Demonstrate commitment to safety, teamwork, and service excellence.
Assist with spill response, and minor chemical handling.
Other duties that are pertinent to the unit's success also may be assigned.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• At least 6 months’ experience that demonstrates a working knowledge of cleaning equipment and general cleaning processes.
• The ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, callouts, etc.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
