Medical Assistant- Float | Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care
Hourly Range: $20-$28/hour
Shift Availability:
Candidates must be available to work between the hours of 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM , including a combination of the following shifts based on business needs:

• The Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting both clinical and front office operations. This position works closely with providers to deliver high-quality care while ensuring efficient patient flow and a positive, welcoming experience for every patient.

Register patients and collect necessary demographic, insurance, and eligibility information
Prepare patients for examination by obtaining medical history and documenting accurately in the medical record
Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, EKG, pregnancy testing) and report results to providers
Draw blood and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms; monitor inventory levels
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the medical record system
Support front desk responsibilities, including phone management and patient communication
Complete opening and closing duties, including cash handling and end-of-day reconciliation
Perform equipment checks, quality control, and troubleshooting as needed
Follow all clinical, safety, and organizational policies and procedures
High School Diploma or equivalent ( required )
Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience ( required )
Graduate of a Medical Assisting program
Experience in urgent care, emergency department, or hospital setting
Prior experience with patient registration or front desk responsibilities
Candidates with less than three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience must:
Hold an approved Medical Assistant certification OR
CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
CMA - Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA or CHP)
RMA - Registered Medical Assistant (AMT, AAH or ARMA)
NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)
NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP)
3+ years of Medical Assistant experience , AND
~1+ year of experience in an urgent care, emergency department, or hospital setting

The following credentials may be accepted in lieu of a Medical Assistant certification:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) certification must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date

Proficiency in Medical Assistant clinical duties
Strong computer skills and ability to document efficiently
Commitment to providing respectful, patient-centered care
