Job Summary:

The Dean of Students is a dual-role leadership position supporting both the high school and the district's alternative learning program. This position fosters a positive, inclusive, and student-centered school culture focused on academic achievement, engagement, safety, belonging, and behavioral support. The Dean provides half-time leadership to the alternative learning program and half-time leadership at the high school, working collaboratively with students, staff, families, and community partners to promote student success through strong systems, effective instruction, restorative practices and proactive support systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate
• Minimum of three years successful secondary teaching, counseling, or student support experience
• An understanding of alternative education and online learning
• Ability to develop and sustain focus on a shared mission and clear vision for improvement of teaching and learning
• Knowledge of effective instructional practices and behavioral and social/emotional student support systems
• Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing Washington State public schools
• Experience with state reporting and maintaining audit files for documentation
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, district staff, students, and families to accomplish shared goals
• Ability to communicate effectively, listen actively, problem-solve, and maintain professionalism in challenging situations
• Ability to implement the District's vision, mission, goals, culture code, and Tiger for Life commitment, including the belief that all students can succeed
• A commitment to student-centered practices by upholding high expectations, fostering collaboration, and supporting the academic and personal success of all students

Preferred Qualifications:

• Successful experience in educational leadership or student support leadership roles
• Valid Washington State Principal or Program Administrator Credential, or ability to obtain appropriate administrative certification
• Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in educational leadership or related field preferred
• Experience working with alternative learning programs or at-risk youth populations
• Experience implementing restorative practices and positive behavior support systems
• Successful experience working with diverse student populations
• Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish preferred

Essential Functions:

• Implements the district mission, culture code, and Tiger for Life commitment to realize the district vision
• Supports a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environment for students, staff, and families at Futurus and CHS
• Conducts the daily operations for Futurus High School and takes lead on programmatic decisions
• Leads the Futurus staff in the development and implementation of strategies and actions to make demonstrated progress toward goals within the School Improvement Plan, in alignment with the District Strategic Plan
• Promotes positive student behavior and engagement through restorative and relationship-centered practices
• Assists with the implementation and management of behavior, attendance, intervention, and student support systems
• Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff to improve student outcomes and reduce barriers to learning
• Supports the development and implementation of intervention plans for students experiencing academic, attendance, behavioral, and/or social-emotional challenges
• Supervises and supports the district's alternative learning program, helping students remain engaged and on track toward graduation and post-secondary success
• Build strong, positive relationships with students and families through consistent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving
• Assists with student discipline processes in alignment with district policy, student rights, and restorative practices
• Assists with supervision of campus activities, extracurricular events, and student programs
• Supports instructional leadership efforts including classroom observations, staff support, and professional collaboration
• Collaborate with special education staff, intervention teams, and counselors to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs
• Assists with school operations including safety procedures, emergency preparedness, scheduling, supervision, and coordination of student services
• Participates in district leadership meetings, committees, and professional development activities as assigned
• Maintains ethical and confidential practices in all aspects of the position
• Demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and a positive leadership presence
• Other duties as assigned

Salary: $138,247 - $156,413 depending on experience

Work schedule: Eight (8) hours per day - 234 days per year (including 12 holidays)

Benefits:
