Fayetteville State University (FSU), is seeking a passionate educator for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Forensic Sciences. This position will teach courses in forensic science and general biology, develop and teach new courses in the Forensic Science Program, advise/mentor students, serve in department, college, and university committees, and assist in building and maintaining professional relationships with local, regional, and national laboratories and law enforcement agencies. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to establish an active, externally funded research program in Forensic Science involving undergraduate students.

The Department of Biological and Forensic Sciences is an academic unit within the Lloyd College of Health, Science, and Technology, seeking to serve a diverse student body, including military and international students, through effective teaching, active scholarship, and service-learning activities. The Department of Biological and Forensic Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in Biology with concentrations in prehealth, organismal biology, or molecular biology/biotechnology as well as a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Sciences. The Department offers a minor program in Biology and Biotechnology. The Department has more than four hundred enrolled undergraduate students and seventeen (17) tenured, tenure-track, or lecturer faculty members. The Department of Biological and Forensic Science mission is to provide high quality, student-centered academic programs, and courses in the sciences at the undergraduate level. In addition, the department provides each student with the opportunity to broaden his/her knowledge before deciding on a specific profession and being committed to the discovery and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of Biological Sciences. Our diverse faculty prepares students through education, research, and outreach programs to become critical thinkers. Teaching

• Teach a variety of undergraduate courses that include but not limited to forensic science, introduction to biology, scientific writing/ communication, and related disciplines that meet FSU workload policy.
• Research
• Conduct research, publish, and write grants.
• Develop a robust research program involving collaboration with students and faculty.
• Preform scholarly activities consistent with their rank.
• Commit to maintaining a productive scholarship program in forensic science.
• Engage in research and training activities within professional societies and related.

Contribute to ongoing programmatic development within the Department of Biological and Forensic Science and College of Health, Science and Technology.

• Serve as a mentor and/ or student organization advisor for undergraduate students, guiding their professional and personal development and academic progress.
• Actively participate in departmental, college, university, community, and professional service consistent with the goals of the Department, College, and University.
• Commitment to contribute to the strategic initiatives of the Department, College, and University.

Education and Experience
Lecturer : Master’s degree in forensic biology, forensic chemistry, criminalistics, and/ or a related field, and minimum 3 years forensic curriculum teaching experience preferably at FEPAC accredited program and/or 3 years laboratory experience preferable in forensic crime laboratory. Prefer a candidate that has demonstrated teaching effectiveness and commitment to student success.
Assistant Professor : Doctorate in forensic biology, forensic chemistry, criminalistics, and/ or a related field, with 0-3 years of teaching or research experience. Teaching experience preferable at FEPAC accredited program or research experience preferable in a forensic crime lab. Prefer a candidate that has evidence of potential scholarly achievement and service.
Associate Professor : Doctorate in forensic biology, forensic chemistry, criminalistics, and/or a related field, 5-7 years of teaching or research experience. Teaching experience preferable at FEPAC accredited program or research experience preferable in a forensic crime lab. Prefer a candidate with a sustained record of scholarly activity, teaching effectiveness and service.
