PTA - Physical Therapy

The Physical Therapy Assistant assists one or more Physical Therapists in evaluating and providing treatment to help patients recover from injury, disease, surgery, or other ailments. The candidate prepares patients and equipment for therapy and implements treatment plans as instructed, including exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands‑on therapy, and equipment. Patient populations served include infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients across a variety of diagnoses including neurologic, orthopedic, post‑surgical, pediatric, medically complex, inpatient, and outpatient settings within the hospital system.

Prepare patients and equipment for therapy sessions.

Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

Board Certified by the South Carolina State Board as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, and work indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes continuously.

Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force and to lift objects from floor to 36 inches, and from 36" to an overhead 25 lbs.

Ability to handle stressful situations, work rotating shifts, overtime, in a latex‑safe environment, maintain tactile sensory functions, and use a respirator when required.
