System Design Engineering

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single‑configuration, heavy‑lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low‑Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Lead the overall physical integration and packaging of structural, mechanical, fluids, and avionics subsystems of various spaceflight systems.

Create and manage interface definitions between vehicle subsystems and potential payloads using appropriate control documents to ensure that the configuration supports major design reviews and integration milestones.

Coordinate regular configuration reviews to address interfaces, subsystem functionality, assembly and operations.

Communicate and collaborate with all development teams involved on projects.

Apply technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.

S. degree in engineering and at least 2 years of experience in the development and packaging of aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.

Demonstrated configuration control experience on recently developed aircraft or launch vehicles from early trade studies through final design and into manufacturing and test.

Strong design and integration skills using 3‑D CAD software and visualization tools.

Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling and planning principles and tools.

2+ years of demonstrated ability in development and integration of aircraft, space craft, or launch vehicle structures.

Knowledge of aerospace vehicle fabrication and assembly techniques.

Ability to interpret and apply high‑level system requirements to practical design solutions.

Current secret clearance, or ability to obtain needed clearance.
