Buyer - Manufacturing and Supply Chain Purchasing

The Filmetrics group in San Diego is looking for a Buyer to join our team. This role requires experience in electronics and optical procurement, along with the ability to collaborate with vendors on technical requirements and lead strategic discussions with cross‑functional stakeholders.

Having wide‑ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in‑depth evaluation of variable factors. Coordinate purchasing activities with Production, Planning and Engineering to acquire inventory in a cost‑effective and timely manner. ensure delivery on‑time (OTD) and reschedule when needed.

Maintain procurement business system data input and integrity. Experience with subcontracted materials and SAP settings will be beneficial.

Perform cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g., materials, components, equipment and services).

Monitor the cost, schedule and scope of assigned suppliers/subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.

May recommend cost‑saving proposals including make‑versus‑buy analysis or alternative sourcing.

Interact closely with suppliers and manufacturing engineering to resolve quality issues.

Serve as buyer point of contact for engineering change order review and implementation.

Work with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability. Require domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities.

Proven ability to lead supplier negotiations, manage supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience developing and facilitating supplier business reviews, performance scorecards, and corrective action plans.

Strong understanding of supply chain management best practices, procurement processes, and compliance requirements, with the ability to ensure adherence to company policies and external regulations.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, pivot tables, and trend identification.

SAP experience preferred.

APICS certification (CPIM/CSCP) or equivalent supply chain certification preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field required.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.

Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years; OR Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years; OR equivalent work experience.
