Overview
The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room/Surgery is a key member of the surgical team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role requires a commitment to maintaining patient safety and achieving optimal clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver direct patient care in the surgical setting, adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to facilitate effective surgical procedures.
Monitor patient status before, during, and after surgery, promptly reporting any changes to the surgical team.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the operating room and surgical instruments.
Educate patients and families about surgical procedures, recovery, and post-operative care.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay informed about the latest surgical practices and technologies.
Qualifications
Active and unrestricted nursing license in the state of practice.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required.
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of surgical procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
