SUBSTITUTE SCHOOL HEALTH NURSE

Substitute School Nurse

The Substitute School Nurse is responsible for managing a health services program at the school site for the assessment, evaluation, maintenance, and improvement of the health of students in the absence of the School Nurse.
The Substitute School Nurse:

• Administers basic health care and First Aid in the absence of the School Nurse for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured children.
• Performs health screenings, informs parents of identified problems and makes appropriate recommendations for interventions.
• Administers and/or facilitates administration of medication at school per district policy.
• Develops, implements, and/or utilizes individualized health care plans developed by a licensed healthcare provider for students with special health care needs in collaboration with students, their families, staff, licensed healthcare providers, and other agencies as appropriate.
• Maintains school health records.
• Works closely with students who are identified as having a health-related disability by providing direct nursing services, monitoring progress with respect to health conditions, and consulting with students, teachers, parents, and other licensed healthcare providers.
• Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District.
• providing accurate data and reports when needed; caring for the equipment and materials; knowledge of physiological, psychological, emotional, and educational behavioral development of children and/or adolescents; and ability to help groups achieve consensus.

Bachelor's Degree; current license to practice as a registered nurse in Wyoming.
Work Experience: Prior experience working as a registered nurse is preferred.
