Schedule/Shift
This position involves working 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. Weekend shifts will be required, totaling 12-16 per contract, and candidates may float as necessary.
Job Description
The Neuro Unit is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide care for patients undergoing neuro surgical procedures. This role will involve using EPIC for documentation and requires familiarity with Pyxis for medication management. As a member of a comprehensive care team, the RN will collaborate with various interdisciplinary support services.
Responsibilities
Administer medications as prescribed and manage IVs, including starting and maintaining IVs.
Monitor vital signs and interpret telemetry readings related to cardiac health.
Provide pre- and post-operative care for neurosurgery patients, including management of surgical drains.
Implement isolation precautions and manage wound care, including wound vacs.
Participate in therapeutic interventions and patient education tailored to neuro patients.
Required Experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical or neuro nursing role.
Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or compact license.
Certifications/Licensure
BLS certification is required.
ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications are preferred.
