Research Fellow Full-time

Overview Siro Diagnostics, Inc. is seeking a full-time Research Associate I to support the R&D team on a specific cartridge-based molecular assay development project. This is a project-based independent contractor role . The contractor will support hands-on laboratory work focused on molecular assay development, including cartridge-based molecular assays and new amplification chemistries such as isothermal nucleic acid amplification. This role is expected to require approximately 40 hours per week, with an anticipated hourly rate of approximately $30 per hour.
Responsibilities Support optimization of novel isothermal nucleic acid amplification techniques
Assist with development of nucleic acid detection methods through system-level cartridge testing
Conduct testing across stages of product development, from early assay discovery through verification and validation study execution
Conduct experiments with live pathogens and human clinical samples in a biosafety level 2 lab
Troubleshoot technical issues and help identify practical solutions
Exercise judgment, take initiative, and make recommendations to resolve problems
Follow established protocols and good laboratory practices
Requirements 0 to 2 years of experience in a lab setting
B.S. or M.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline
Basic understanding of molecular biology techniques, relevant software, and data analysis tools
Experience with common DNA/RNA characterization methods, such as endpoint PCR or real-time PCR
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Efficient and careful with hands-on laboratory research
Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Project: Cartridge-based molecular assay development support
Expected time commitment: Approximately 40 hours per week
Hourly rate: Approximately $30 per hour
Location: San Diego, CA, onsite laboratory work required
Duration: Project-based, to be defined based on project needs
Environment and Physical Requirements This role will work in an indoor laboratory environment, which may occasionally be noisy, subject to climate and humidity requirements, and involve hazardous substances.
