Temporary Counselor- Seniors

Hicksville, NY, USA | 22.06 per hour | Full Time

Assist the Program Supervisor in managing the daily operations of a residential program providing housing and supports to people with psychiatric disabilities.

High School Diploma required.

6 months of experience in a mental health related field.

Assist Supervisor in initial and ongoing training of staff.

• Provide direct care services and assist Supervisor in establishing staffing patterns and securing site coverage as needed.
• Provide counseling, behavioral interventions, restorative services, assistance in negotiating community activities and crisis management services.
• Monitor, train and assist residents in all programs in household maintenance activities to ensure a clean, safe and homelike environment. Provide training, supervision and assistance to residents in daily activities including food purchases, recreational activities, and meal planning and personal care activities.
• Assist residents in developing meaningful service plan goals and provide supports to assist residents in achieving their goals.
• Provide residents in licensed housing programs with restorative services appropriate to their needs, treating residents with dignity and respect.
• Document interactions with residents and resident progress in accordance with agency policies and standards.
• Assist Supervisor in the oversight of the sites to ensure a clean, safe and homelike environment.
• Supervise the day-to-day management of the residence in cooperation with the Supervisor, including food purchases, recreational activities, meal planning and personal care activities of residents.
• Assist in oversight of program and resident finances.
• Oversee fire safety training activities and ensures fire drills are conducted in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
• Oversee and participate in all Medicaid billable activities under leadership of the Supervisor, and/or ensure that all documentation is current and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Participate in weekly Senior Counselor Quality Assurance meetings
• Oversee management of medications in compliance with agency policies
• Provide transportation as needed using personal vehicle when agency vehicle is not available.
• Promptly report all emergencies, incidents, maintenance and safety issues to the Supervisor
• Facilitate sharing of data with the individuals to whom it applies to facilitate partnered decision-making and to keep clients informed of progress
• Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed.

**FULL-TIME COUNSELOR WILL RECEIVE A $750 BONUS AFTER 60 DAYS AND AN ADDITIONAL $1,000 BONUS AFTER 8 MONTHS.
