E‑6 (Petty Officer First Class): State‑licensed Dental Hygienists may qualify for entry at this higher paygrade, with an earning potential of up to $116,000 annually*.

Responsibilities

Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate preventive and therapeutic dental care under the supervision of a Navy Dental Officer.

Perform periodontal therapy, including scaling and root planing.

Take, process, and interpret dental radiographs.

Apply fluoride, sealants, and other preventive and chemotherapeutic treatments.

Provide critical oral health and nutrition education to patients.

Document patient care, clinical readiness, and treatment outcomes with precision.

Uphold the highest standards of infection control and support clinical quality assurance protocols.

Earn up to $104,000* annually when you enlist as an E‑4 (Petty Officer Third Class): Candidates with an Associate Degree from a CODA‑accredited Dental Hygiene program can enter the Navy at an advanced paygrade.

Earn up to $116,00* annually enlist as an E‑6 (Petty Officer First Class): Candidates who are already state‑licensed as a Dental Hygienist can enter at an even higher paygrade, recognizing your professional credentials.
