Audit and Tax Preparer

Our client is a leading accounting firm based in Rockville, MD, specializing in personalized tax planning, compliance, and financial advisory services for businesses and high-net-worth individuals. Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Accountant to prepare and review tax returns, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and provide strategic tax planning advice. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of tax experience, strong analytical skills, and a passion for helping clients optimize their financial outcomes.
Prepare and file individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns (Forms 1040, 1120, 1065, 1041)
Research tax regulations to ensure compliance and identify savings opportunities
Assist clients with IRS/state tax notices, audits, and resolutions
Collaborate with senior staff on tax planning strategies (e.g., deductions, credits, entity structuring)
Maintain client records in CCH Axcess, QuickBooks, or similar software
Support quarterly estimated tax calculations and year-end projections
Stay updated on tax law changes and advise clients accordingly
Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or EA preferred)
Experience: 2+ years in tax preparation (public accounting firm experience a plus)
Technical Skills: Proficiency in tax software (CCH, UltraTax, or Lacerte) and Excel
Bonus: Knowledge of multi-state filings, international tax (FBAR/5471), or real estate taxation
