Description
American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a busy 23-bed medical surgical unit requiring 2 years of post-op surgical experience and a KY or compact RN license.
Details

• 23-bed medical surgical unit caring for orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric patients
• Occasional overflow patients from medicine units when beds are available
• Fast-paced unit typically receiving 10-20 post-op admissions per day
• Unit equipped with cardiac and O2 monitoring capability
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Float to other units or nearby affiliate hospitals based on skillset
• Expected to work 3 out of 5 winter holidays

Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license required
• 2 years of RN experience required in a related specialty
• BLS certification required
• Strong medical and surgical nursing skillset required
• Experience caring for post-op orthopedic and gastrointestinal surgery patients strongly preferred
• Must pass an EKG exam during onboarding
• First-time travelers considered only if they have several years of experience with post-op ortho and GI surgery patients
• At least one professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

Provide nursing care for post-op surgical patients including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and wound care
Skills include IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
Respiratory care skills such as BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy management may be required
Experience with feeding tube care, heparin protocols, and PCA management is relevant to this role
Local candidates residing within 100 miles are not accepted for this position
Previous permanent staff must have been separated from all UK-affiliated facilities for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
All requested time off must be disclosed prior to starting the assignment
