Academic Affairs, led by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, comprises the university's colleges, schools and libraries, along with other academic support and administrative units. Academic Affairs works collaboratively to strengthen ECU's culture of academic excellence in line with our mission to be a national model for student success, public service and regional transformation.

The mission of the College of Education is to prepare and develop professionals in vocational teacher education and information/office education through effective teaching, the dissemination of knowledge, generation and application of research, and service to the educational business communities. The college is committed to preparing educational and business professionals who are both academically and technically proficient.

Management (55%)

Serve as a primary International EdD Research Advisor, mentoring doctoral students from admission through dissertation completion.

Guide students through the development, implementation, and dissemination of their dissertations in practice using the Community Learning Exchange (CLE) framework and participatory methodologies.

Coordinate, monitor, and document student progress toward program milestones, including coursework, comprehensive requirements, proposal development, dissertation milestones, and graduation.

Maintain regular communication with advisees through individual meetings, email, and virtual advising sessions.

Co-facilitate the annual International EdD Summer Learning Exchange, including planning, instruction, logistics, and participant support.

Co-facilitate regular online WebExchanges that support student learning, dissertation development, and cohort engagement.

Attend and facilitate in-person student learning experiences and cohort meetings during the first year of the International EdD program.

Mentor doctoral students in scholarly writing, conference presentations, and publication opportunities.

Assist in the planning, design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the International EdD curriculum and student experience with the Community Learning Exchange framework.

Collaborate with the International EdD leadership team to review and refine program scope, sequence, learning outcomes, and instructional practices.

Assist with domestic and international recruitment efforts through virtual information sessions, webinars, conference participation, and in-person recruitment events.

Foster partnerships with international schools, educational organizations, and alumni to enhance recruitment and program visibility.

Collaborate on scholarly publications, conference presentations, grant proposals, and externally funded initiatives that advance the ELF Department and College of Education.

Represent the International EdD program at professional meetings and university events as appropriate.

Coordinate with the ECU Graduate School regarding admissions, enrollment, graduation, and dissertation submission requirements.

Assist students with university policies, procedures, deadlines, and graduation requirements.

Maintain student records and monitor compliance with Graduate School and departmental policies.

Prepare reports related to student progress, enrollment, retention, and graduation as requested.

Doctorate in Educational Leadership or closely related field.

Experience in graduate-level teaching.

Experience in dissertation supervision or doctoral student mentoring.

Demonstrated scholarly activity appropriate for a graduate faculty appointment.

Prior experience teaching doctoral-level courses as well as developing online or hybrid doctoral programs.

Prior experience serving as a dissertation chair or committee member in an EdD or PhD program.

Prior experience with practitioner inquiry, improvement science, action research, participatory action research, or Community Learning Exchange methodologies.

Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and external partners, including collaborating with P-12 schools, districts, or international educational organizations.
