Banner University Medical Center Tucson - Main is seeking an Emergency Department Technician. The position is located at 1625 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, Arizona.
Shift schedule: 3x12 Day Shift. Weekends and holidays are required. Flat rate $1 per hour weekend shift differential and an 18% night shift differential when applicable.

Position Summary This position is responsible for providing patient care and assisting health care providers in performing assigned patient procedures within scope of training. The position receives general supervision from an RN, APN, PA, or Physician.
Core Functions Under general supervision, perform assigned procedures such as electrocardiogram testing (EKG), wound cleansing, vital sign measurements, monitor lead application, specimen collection, and transport of stable telemetry or non-monitored patients to nursing units. Advanced skills, where state statute permits, include blood glucose testing; phlebotomy; saline lock insertion; IV discontinuation; bladder catheterization. After training, the ED Tech may perform these functions on adult and pediatric patients twelve years of age and older upon direct delegation of the task.

Set up and prepare patients, assisting with patient exam and minor surgical or health procedures within scope of training, such as lumbar punctures; sterile instrument and field preparation; suturing lacerations; chest tube insertion; closed fracture reduction; gastric lavage; pelvic examinations; restraint application; and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Apply orthopedic devices, including pre-manufactured and plaster splints, under physician direction.

Perform specimen collection, ensuring accuracy in identification and integrity by using appropriate techniques for all age criteria as required by Lab. Where state statute permits, perform point‑of‑care testing for blood glucose; hemoccult and gastroccult or other tests, and perform quality control checks on point‑of‑care equipment as required.

Provide communication and updates to RN, Physician or other providers related to perceived reactions or changes to patients’ condition. Accurately record information in the patient record, documenting vital signs and procedures completed, as well as the equipment and techniques utilized.

Monitor supply stock levels and report needs. Notify housekeeping, maintenance, biomedical engineering, and others to ensure proper equipment and a safe environment is maintained. Maintain appropriate levels of stock in medication room, exam room bedside carts, and specialty carts. Assist with health unit coordination tasks and reception responsibilities as needed.

Attend department meetings and educational sessions; assist in orienting and training of new ED Technicians.

Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent working knowledge.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; either Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) or higher with state licensure or certification, or Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of practice. (For new hires and transfers.)
Basic computer skills, effective written and verbal communication, and problem‑solving ability.
Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
