Nashville's nickname is "Music City," but that barely scratches the surface of what makes this place genuinely fun to live in.

A legendary live music scene, every night of the week. From the historic Ryman Auditorium - the "Mother Church of Country Music," where Johnny Cash met June Carter - to the energy of Honky Tonk Highway on Lower Broadway, live music isn't a special occasion here, it's a Tuesday.

The world's only full-scale Parthenon replica sits right in Centennial Park, originally built in 1897 and rebuilt in concrete in the 1920s - complete with a towering recreation of the Athena Parthenos statue inside. A food and nightlife scene that keeps growing. Rooftop bars, James Beard-recognized restaurants, hot chicken institutions, and the Nashville Farmers' Market all give you plenty of reasons to explore after a shift.

Nashville's mural scene is everywhere - walk a few blocks downtown and you'll run into several without even trying.

Catch the Nashville Sounds at their guitar-shaped-scoreboard ballpark, or take in Titans football and Predators hockey if you're into the bigger leagues.

Nashville International Airport offers easy, direct access to most of the country, and you're a short drive from the Great Smoky Mountains if you need a weekend in the woods.

Dragon Park, Madame Tussauds, an axe-throwing bar with skyline views, a motor museum in an old bakery - Nashville has a real appetite for the offbeat alongside its polish.
