Buyer @ Purchasing Department

Job OverviewReviews and approves purchase requests received from departments; identifies, analyzes, and resolves purchasing issues within other departments; responsible for identifying and recommending cost saving opportunities and processing improvements to Supervisor.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, etc.Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.Prepares purchase orders, once requisition is approved, checking GL accounts, adding taxes and freight charges.Maintains procurement records, such as items purchased, costs, and delivery.Partner with payables on vendor issues for payments, receiving, freight, etc.QualificationsBS in Business, Accounting, or a related field.Requires 3-5 years' experience in a purchasing-related role.Solid experience working with MS Office applications and databases is required.Experience with software containing inventory system and control functions - such as Foodtrak, Yellow Dog, or other - is preferred but not required.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risks associated with travel between buildings and back and forth to other areas as may be required due to business demands.
