Specialist 4, Lead, Early Childhood Educator, South City Campus Overview
Salt Lake Community College seeks a qualified Early Childhood Educator to provide care for children birth to twelve years old, offering guided play-based learning experiences. Work with a team and the Director to deliver comprehensive care, integrate curriculum into planned play, and communicate with parents. Complete paperwork related to progress toward individual goals for children.
Work directly in the classroom, supervise children, follow the curriculum, accreditation standards, and licensing regulations; may serve as Director Designee as needed.
Write lesson plans, conduct observations, hold Parent Teacher Conferences/Orientations, and complete related paperwork.
Qualifications Associate degree or 60 completed college credits, including at least 12 credits in early childhood development courses (e.g., URPD, CCPDI, CDA, or related fields).
Two years of direct, paid, full-time work experience (part-time work may be counted toward experience).
Practicum teaching may be considered if hours are indicated on the application.
Must pass a background check from the Bureau of Child Care Licensing.
Ability to bend, lift, and interact with children at their level.
Required Skills Ability to manage a classroom and conduct parent-teacher meetings, working closely with families to support children’s learning.
Understanding of early childhood learning, child development milestones, health and safety regulations, and basic managerial functions.
Ability to work with small children in various group settings and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
use technology to document work; Exhibit social maturity, physical endurance, and emotional stability for supervising young children.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and interact with children, including exposure to illnesses and bodily fluids.
Must read and write in English and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Skills Experience working with large groups of young children, including infants and toddlers, for 5+ years.
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Child Development or related field.
Experience as a Lead Teacher and in an accredited early childhood program.
