About Teamwork Englewood Teamwork Englewood is a nonprofit organization based in Chicago dedicated to empowering residents of Englewood and surrounding neighborhoods through community‑driven initiatives. We offer programs for youth development, parent programming, workforce development, and support for re‑entry from incarceration. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of residents and stakeholders by facilitating economic, educational, and social opportunities. The Re‑Entry Department focuses on creating pathways for social equity, strengthening the community, and providing critical support to individuals seeking criminal record relief. We are committed to advancing justice, reducing recidivism, and offering second chances to those impacted by the criminal justice system.
Position Summary Staff Attorney provides legal support to individuals seeking expungement or sealing of their criminal records. The role assists clients in navigating the records relief process, advocates for policy change, and works directly with community partners to ensure access to justice.
Key Responsibilities Provide legal counsel and representation for clients seeking expungement, sealing, and other criminal record relief.
Represent clients at court hearings related to criminal record relief, ensuring effective advocacy.
Collaborate with community organizations, local government agencies, and stakeholders to educate individuals about their rights and available relief options.
Conduct client intake interviews, assess eligibility, and maintain case files throughout the legal process.
Work as part of a collaborative team of attorneys, paralegals, and outreach staff to meet organizational goals and deliver comprehensive services.

Prior experience in criminal law, clemency, legal aid, or post‑conviction release, especially with expungement and sealing procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining legal concepts clearly to non‑legal audiences.
Ability to work with diverse populations, including individuals from underrepresented communities, with sensitivity, professionalism, and empathy.
Trauma‑informed training and skill in supporting people who have experienced trauma, discrimination, or systemic barriers.
Familiarity with Salesforce is desirable.

Proficiency in legal research and writing.
Comfortable using legal case‑management systems (Salesforce) and Microsoft Office/Google Suite.

Work Location & Schedule Full‑time, in‑person at Teamwork Englewood’s office in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. Monday‑to‑Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. with some evening and weekend work needed for outreach and community events.
