Registered Dietitian

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that residents' clinical nutrition needs are provided by the food and nutrition services department. Develop a written dietary plan of care that identifies the dietary problems/needs of the resident and the goals to be accomplished for each dietary problem/need identified using the RAI and other authorized facility assessments; Assist in planning meal times appropriate to the resident's needs/wishes. Participate in completing, coding and revising the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) to ensure the resident's dietary needs are met. Review nurses' notes to determine if the dietary care plan is being followed; discuss problem areas with the Director of Nursing. Ensure that all food and nutrition services personnel are aware of changes in the resident's care plan when dietary needs are modified or changed. Encourage the resident/family to participate in the development and review of the resident's assessment and plan of care. Assist the Infection Prevention and Control Committee in the development, implementation and revision of food safety and sanitation procedures as necessary. Assist in developing safety standards for the food and nutrition services department. Ensure that all food storage rooms, preparation areas, etc., Must possess, as a minimum, a bachelor's degree in a nationally accredited nutrition or dietetics program from an accredited college or university. Has completed at least 900 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian or nutrition professional. Is licensed or certified as a dietitian or nutrition professional by the state or is recognized as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or its successor organization. Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility or other related medical facility. Must have training in cost control, food management and food safety.
