The Advanced Clinical Dietitian provides comprehensive, safe, and ethical medical nutrition therapy to patients and families, and other clients in inpatient or outpatient settings. Leads quality improvement activities and advances the practice of dietetics through professional leadership activities.

Location/Dept: Clinical Nutrition

Full-Time; Weekday Coverage: Primary inpatient coverage at Anschutz Medical Campus within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and float.

Weekend Coverage: During scheduled weekend shifts, this role participates in hospital wide Clinical Nutrition coverage, while maintaining advanced expertise in neonatal ICU level care.

Consistent weekend schedule for a minimum of 6 months. Wednesday-Sunday: 8:00 a.m.-Assesses, plans, and delivers accurate medical nutrition therapy using established standards and evidence.

Facilitates conversations across CN and multidisciplinary teams to gather and utilize data to develop processes to improve CN services/outcomes. Facilitate connections for other RDs and support their participation in professional associations, research projects, or publications.

Mentor team members and support their professional growth, skill development, responsibility, accountability, quality improvement and research process.

Leads dietitians in improving documentation for clarity and efficiency.

Develops and evaluates educational services and programs within the CN department and organization that meet patient/family and community needs.

Identifies and addresses barriers to quality outcomes and established standards of care.

Participates in research, quality improvement, and advisory boards at the state, national, or global levels.

Financial Responsibility: Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.

Trains and observes RDs, interns, and students in their clinical practice. Proactively connects with Clinical Nutrition team members and other disciplines in the organization to identify Clinical Nutrition-related issues, potential solutions, and opportunities for quality and process improvement.

Ensures compliance with established regulatory standards and healthcare regulatory requirements by identifying and following policies and procedures for the nutritional care provided.

Accurately documents patient care and tracks time/activities for use with benchmarking, billing, and/or productivity in accordance with department standards.

Leads advocacy, policy and procedure review, quality improvement and/or research.

EDUCATION - Bachelor's Degree (prior to 2024 graduates). Master's Degree required for 2024 (and beyond) graduates.

• EXPERIENCE - Six (6) years clinical nutrition required.
• LICENSURES - Registered Dietitians (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) adhering to the Commission of Dietetic Registration guidelines. These RD positions are eligible for the weekend differential during weekend shifts.

As a non exempt role, team members will be eligible for overtime pay and may be eligible for applicable shift differentials in accordance with Children's Hospital Colorado policy.

Eligible Incentives: This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $20,000 for qualified, external candidates. Relocation assistance available to qualified candidates if relocating from 100 miles or greater.
