Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited educational program with an emphasis in a primary cardiovascular specialty or graduate of a JRCERT accredited educational program with an emphasis in radiologic technology.
Under supervision and direction of a mentor or preceptor, this entry-level position works to achieve the initial competencies required to deliver specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to patients.
The focus is on aiding medical staff in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of simple to complex conditions, defects, and/or diseases.
Utilizing entry-level knowledge, abilities, skills, and available resources, the role involves providing safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care under routine or urgent conditions in various care settings.
Responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures and correlating clinical history with physician-ordered procedures.
Use of specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic equipment and techniques is required to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional, and/or surgical procedures.
Conduct post-procedure reviews with or without a preceptor to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented, and of technical quality consistent with established protocols.
Transfer images and data to archival systems, enter technical data, findings, and prepare studies for reporting by a physician.
Perform operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and other user maintenance per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
Position requires skill in applying principles of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, and patient positioning.
Exercise discretion in handling confidential information and sound judgment in decision-making.
Understanding various operations, policies, and procedures is required.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and attention to detail is essential.
Ability to apply basic specialty theory, practices, and techniques to perform and document procedures with general supervision or assistance is required.
