Archaeologist (Full-Time)

Archaeologist On-Call - Sacramento & Central Valley Location: Sacramento, CA. Employment type: On‑Call temporary.
Job Responsibilities Assist senior archaeologists in fieldwork including survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring.
Perform laboratory analysis, conduct background research, and assist with report preparation as needed.
Identify pre‑contract and historic‑period artifacts and take detailed field notes.
Travel up to 10 days for site visits and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Accept or decline scheduled on‑call work hours; may accept concurrent projects that do not conflict with ICF obligations.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of field experience in archaeological monitoring and survey.
Valid driver’s license and successful Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
Strong field skills and ability to take detailed field notes.
Preferred Qualifications Field experience in Sacramento County and surrounding Central Valley and Northern CA.
Effective communication and coordination with senior staff and construction personnel.
Proficiency with computers and smart devices.
Background in precontact or historic‑period archaeology.
Cross‑training in paleontological monitoring, mission‑era experience or training, and osteology experience or training.
Active 40‑hour HAZWOPER training.
Additional Information Travel may involve up to 10 days. Work is outdoors in all weather conditions. On‑call schedule is based on available hours; staff may accept or decline. Concurrent projects are permissible if they do not create a conflict of interest.
Pay Range $55,148.00 - $103,128.00 (full‑time, Sacramento, CA).
