PLANT MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIANS

Description

General Summary: This position plays an important role in maintaining and repairing our equipment to ensure safe operation. This includes installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components. The Industrial Electrician is a knowledgeable, hardworking and skilled individual.

Essential Functions: Responsible for using safety devices and protective equipment and for using safe work practices and methods in the operation of all tools and equipment necessary to complete tasks.

Maintain, install, troubleshoot and repair electrical/electromechanical component systems for Minning, Asphalt and concrete masonry plant equipment for safe and efficient operations.

Have the ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Safely operate motor vehicles and other mobile equipment including man lift, forklift, and others as become necessary in the course of plant repair/maintenance.

Plan work in an effective manner, and keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Responsible for correcting and/or reporting any conditions that may be hazardous to employees, contractors etc.

Willing to work outside in all types of weather.

Quickly assess issues during breakdowns and communicates with equipment operators and then applies troubleshooting, diagnostic and knowledge to repair equipment in an efficient manner to reduce downtime.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements Job Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: 3-5 years of experience as an industrial electrician.

Thorough knowledge of the principles of electricity and of electrical/electromechanical maintenance methods.

Knowledge of the rules of safety, especially as they relate to electrical work and standard LOTO procedures.

Skill in the application of methods used in the trade; use of hand tools, testing equipment, and the safe installation of new and replacement parts.

Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and to implement that knowledge in safe work practices.

Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.

Strong understanding of motor control circuits and relay logic

Basic understanding of PLC’s; ability to read logic and apply to troubleshooting

Ability to respond to emergency calls after normal working hours.

Work Environment: Perform all work in accordance with YBP Safety policies.

The work is performed outdoors and/or indoors, enduring heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and other elements.

Capable of operating various types of heavy equipment and/or machinery.

Physical Demands Ability to work at heights on aerial lifts, stepladders and/or extension ladders.

Ability to work in confined spaces.

Physical demands include but are not limited to walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 90 pounds.

Travel May be required to work at various facilities
