We are seeking entry- and mid-level professionals to conduct biological field surveys and construction monitoring in the Blythe CA area. Candidates will have some experience with biological survey techniques a background in biology a willingness to perform strenuous physical activity in harsh desert climates with uneven and sometimes difficult terrain problem-solving capabilities and a desire to learn and work as part of a team.
Preference will be given to candidates that have experience with target species in California including Mojave desert tortoise burrowing owl desert kit fox American badger; or general experience with nesting birds construction monitoring reptiles amphibians and mammals. These candidates have participated in or led/helped lead surveys.
Any candidate must possess the ability and willingness to continually hike in desert climates for days or weeks at a time use GIS and data collection applications navigate terrain and drive off road. Compiling available research data and evaluating applicability to specific project sites
General habitat assessments and surveys for plant and wildlife species
Construction monitoring
Wildlife pre-construction surveys
Use of GIS and Survey123 for data collection
Bachelors degree in biology ecology botany or related natural resources field or equivalent experience
Experience in performing biological surveys or a willingness to learn.
Background and/or coursework in biological field methods or biological science
Must possess a valid drivers license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment
Experience in performing biological surveys for desert tortoise previous USFWS authorized biologist status or requisite qualifications and experience to obtain authorized biologist status
Background and/or coursework in biological field methods
Wildlife survey experience in CA NV AZ and/or NM
Self-motivated with an interest to learn and grow as a project team.
Must have the ability to be insured to drive a vehicle and/or current auto-insurance
Compensation : $30-50/hourly*
*This job operates in an outdoor or office-based environment

~ This job requires project site visits based outdoors which can include excessive noise uneven walking surfaces extreme weathe r and moving vehicles and equipment.

Attending meetings both in person and virtually and speaking on the phone with peers clients etc.
Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
