Phlebotomist utilizes phlebotomy skills for collection of patient samples. Phlebotomist identifies cultural differences and incorporates into care. Phlebotomist utilizes translation services when indicated. Phlebotomist fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long range plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital. Phlebotomist participates in performance improvement activities to assure continuous quality improvement. Performs venous and capillary collection procedures.

• Monitors computer/labels/computer reports to ensure no collections are missed.
• Answers any questions/phone calls from any inquires of patients lab results.
• Separates and distributes reports throughout hospital.
• Pulls collection pending list and reconciles collections schedules.
• Accurately and timely orders patients tests into the lab information system.
• Cleans glassware following pertinent policies.
• Monitors and documents temperatures in refrigerators/freezers and incubators/waterbaths.
• Provides clerical support for lab.
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
