Job Summary
We are seeking a Cytotechnologist / Cytologist to join a clinical laboratory team in Greenville, SC. This position is responsible for the microscopic examination of cellular specimens to identify abnormal, pre-malignant, and malignant cells and other evidence of disease.
The ideal candidate will have experience screening gynecological and non-gynecological cytology specimens and a strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and patient care.
Responsibilities

Examine gynecological and/or non-gynecological cytology slides according to established protocols.
Identify cellular abnormalities and evidence of pre-malignant, malignant, and other disease processes.
Accurately document and record screening findings in the laboratory computer system.
Maintain required daily screening records and departmental logs.
Identify and resolve issues that may adversely affect testing performance or patient result reporting.
Communicate significant findings, technical concerns, and departmental issues to appropriate laboratory leadership.
Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshoot methods or equipment as needed.
Assist with documentation and maintenance of QA/QC programs and quality monitoring activities.
Maintain established productivity and screening expectations.
Follow laboratory safety precautions and established departmental procedures.
Maintain the confidentiality and security of protected health information and other sensitive data.
Follow applicable regulatory, compliance, privacy, and security requirements.
Qualifications / Requirements

Minimum of two years of college education and graduation from an approved School of Cytotechnology.
ASCP certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) required.
Appropriate state licensure is preferred, where applicable.
Minimum of one year of Cytotechnologist experience preferred, including screening of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens.
Strong microscopic screening and cellular morphology skills.
Ability to recognize abnormal, pre-malignant, and malignant cellular changes.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accurate and timely results.
Knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, laboratory safety, and regulatory requirements.
Must maintain appropriate continuing education for certification and applicable licensure.
