Seasonal/Part-Time Tax Preparer

This position will be responsible for the preparation of individual and business tax returns and maintaining associated client records.

This is a small, fast paced office environment offering a casual work setting and flexible hours based out of our Scarborough, Maine location.

This position can be a regular part time position with the opportunity for increased hours during the months of January through May and increasingly flexible hours, during the summer months or a seasonal position.

RESPONSBILITIES INCLUDE: Prior experience preparing individual and corporate tax returns.

Understanding of federal and Maine state tax laws (multi-state exposure is a plus).

Competency with reconciling client accounting records with high degree of accuracy in various accounting software including QuickBooks (online and desktop versions) and Excel for preparation of tax filing.

Understanding of payroll regulation and related liability reporting.

Preparation of Form 1099’s and W-2's, sales, and payroll tax filings.

Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to internal and external parties

Detailed and organized management of client records and the office environment.

Regular interaction with staff and clients.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 2-years’ experience with direct tax return preparation with the public.

Knowledge of QuickBooks, both online and desktop versions.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
