Temporary Travel RN - ICU/PCU

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of ICU experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Job Details

• Medical ICU setting within a Level I Trauma Center, short term acute care hospital,
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00,
• No on-call responsibilities,
• Float required to PCU, other ICUs, and other campus locations as needed,
• Every other weekend coverage required,
• Epic charting system used,

Job Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required,
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred,
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required,
• Epic charting experience required,
• Teaching hospital experience preferred,
• Experience with arterial line management, IV therapy, and blood product administration,
• Skilled in care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ETT/NT suctioning,
• Experience interpreting ABGs and managing respiratory failure, pulmonary edema, and pulmonary embolism,
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management,
• Experience with central venous pressure monitoring and titration of vasoactive drips,
• Skilled in continuous IV sedation and emergency medication administration,
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure,
• Knowledge of IV insulin protocols,
• 1 professional reference required,
• Large trauma center experience required for consideration at this facility,

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity Medical ICU environment,
• Participate in infection prevention practices and proper use of isolation precautions/PPE,
• Must be prepared to assist with natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed,
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted,
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only,
• First-time travelers will be considered,
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler,
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the facility are considered local,
• Up to 7 days of requested time off can be auto-approved
