South Pointe Hospital's Emergency Department has 22 beds and provides 24/7 emergency services, ranging from minor injuries to critical and resuscitative care, to more than 35,000 patients of all ages each year. Known for their collaborative, team-based approach, this department strives to be the best place to receive care and is focused on providing an environment for caregivers to learn and become experts in their field.

Paramedics provide emergency treatment, including advanced life support, to patients in emergencies. The Paramedic's role is to assess the urgent medical needs of patients and stabilize their conditions. Paramedics are the most highly trained emergency medical responders. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who is looking to start their nursing career at Cleveland Clinic and work in a supportive and caring environment.
A caregiver in this position works evenings from 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.
Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

• Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
• Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
• Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
• Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment.
• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program
• Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department

~ Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program

International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)

~ Experience in a hospital setting or city ambulance

Personal Protective Equipment:
~ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
