Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Step Down position requiring at least 1 year of unit specialty experience and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
Work in the Step Down/PCU unit of a hospital environment
Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours from 19:00-07:00
Floating required to Intermediate and MedSurg units, with travelers floating first as needed
No specific patient ratio information provided
Cerner/Oracle Health charting system experience preferred, not required
Requirements
Active RN license (Compact or VA) required in hand
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Minimum 1 year of experience in the unit specialty required, with 2-3 years overall experience preferred
Prior travel nursing experience generally required unless candidate has significant overall experience
BSN not required
Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac and vasoactive drip management (no titration), and non-invasive airway management/oxygen administration
Candidates with pending certifications will be considered
Additional Information

• Must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility
• Local candidates are not accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Former Centra Health employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• RTO must be approved prior to assignment start, with a preference for no RTO in the first weeks of the assignment
• Holiday coverage expected in rotation with staff
• Biweekly orientation held on Mondays
• 8-10 hours of training modules required during orientation and annually
• Scrubs may be any color with a professional appearance; child-friendly print tops, scrub jackets, and lab coats are allowed
• Nicotine-free campus
