Flexible part-time evening cleaning/janitorial

This is a flexible, part-time, non-exempt position that reports to Manager of Custodial and Event Services. This position is located at the Agricultural Education Center, Baylis, IL.
John Wood Community College (JWCC) is seeking a reliable and dedicated Part-Time Custodian to join our Maintenance and Custodial team. The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across all college buildings and grounds. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
Ensure the proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.
Respond promptly to cleaning requests and other maintenance needs as required by college staff.
Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and special functions.
Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor.
Support seasonal tasks including snow removal, salting sidewalks, and maintaining exterior areas.
Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Previous custodial or maintenance experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided.

Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Good communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse community.
Must have the ability to see potential risks and hazards and try to always prevent them.
Part-time position with a varying schedule not to exceed 28 hours per week.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required to support student programs or events.
This is a non-exempt position with an estimated hourly range beginning at $15.00.
