Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Telemetry RN for a fast-paced cardiac and stroke unit requiring 2 years of cardiac telemetry experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

Primary cardiac and stroke telemetry unit within a hospital setting

Patient population includes pre/post pacemaker and ICD implantation, cardiac catheterization, TR bands, uncomplicated peripheral vascular and cardiac interventions, unstable angina, chest pain evaluation, CHF, dysrhythmias, and new CVA/TIA patients

Manages multiple cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone with titration required

Target patient ratio of 1:5-6, with high patient turnover averaging 78-90 patients per week

Team lead available to assist with admissions and discharges

Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15

36 hours per week may be offered

Self-scheduling with leadership oversight; no block scheduling permitted

Float requirement to other units as needed

Call requirement with frequency dependent on patient census

Every other weekend required, including 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays within a 6-week period

Uses Pyxis and EPIC (Dimensions) for medication and documentation, with SBAR communication

Unit may care for COVID-positive patients using opti-flow and BiPAP for chronic, stable use only

Requirements

Active RN license (NC or Compact) required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications

Minimum 2 years of cardiac telemetry experience required (hard requirement, no exceptions)

PCU experience not required, but cardiac telemetry experience is mandatory

EPIC charting experience preferred

Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and arterial line management

Experience managing and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips preferred

Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response situations

Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac angiogram and cath, and pre/post cardiac surgery care preferred

Comfortable with non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and nasal cannula use

Wound care/wound vac and insulin drip titration experience preferred
