Cafe/Restaurant Server (Full-time)

Job description We’re looking for a bright, upbeat hospitality employee ready to multi‑task and positively interact with customers. The Market Cafe at Michael Anthony’s is a fully operational retail market as well as a restaurant. There are many moving parts, and it remains busy all day.

The market assistant will be responsible for keeping the premises clean and presentable, stocking shelves and merchandising, packaging and stocking refrigerated/frozen goods we produce in house, serving guests with beverages and meals, processing retail and dine‑in transactions and payments, and answering phones and taking/managing reservations.

Detailed List of Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations for the Market Assistant Packaging & Stocking (Must be willing & able to walk up and down stairs carrying heavy loads) Package products in a neat and presentable way.

Familiarize one-self with all packaging materials and where they are located and stored.

Place stickers on products neatly and correctly.

Stock and rotate coolers, putting older products in the front and newer products in the back.

Stock as much as possible in the market coolers, as back storage space is limited.

Create and update production request sheets for the production team.

Retailing & Merchandising Learn in‑depth knowledge of all market products and upsell to increase bag spend.

Assist management with stocking retail items and pulling products forward.

Merchandise products and develop effective and attractive displays.

Keep the retail shelves looking presentable and stocked.

Check expiration dates.

Take inventory monthly.

Keep the market retail closet organized and clean.

Serving Duties Complete opening side work in a timely and efficient manner.

Greet tables warmly and offer drinks.

Relay daily dine‑in specials clearly and effectively.

Take food orders and record them correctly and quickly.

Do table checks and ensure the customer is enjoying their dining experience.

Add the 20 % service charge to all lunch checks.

Process payments promptly and efficiently.

Phone Duties Answer and transfer calls.

Proficiency in Open Table: Make reservations.

Make Cooking Class reservations.

Adjust reservations as needed.

Confirm reservations.

Seat guests warmly and efficiently.

Take take‑out orders for the Cafe.

Answer questions regarding market goods.

Light Cleaning Duties Clean the windows, doors, and cooler doors several times per day as needed.

Dust the retail shelves and display areas regularly.

Keep the checkout counter organized and free of clutter.

Wipe down the checkout counter and under register regularly.

Keep the premises looking clean, orderly and attractive.

Requirements Authorized to work in the United States.

Reliable transportation required.

English language is a requirement.
