Registered Nurse - Acute Hematology
Schedule
12-hour rotating days/nights or 12-night-only contracts available
Requirements

• Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience (must be current/working consistently within the last 12 months)
• At least 1 year PCU/stepdown experience within that 2-year total
• Valid state or compact nursing license
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• References: 2 professional references required; at least 1 must be a manager/director or formal supervisor
• Travel experience required

• Provide direct patient care in a stepdown unit, focusing on adults and geriatrics with primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia.
• Monitor and recognize telemetry readings and dysrhythmias, ensuring timely interventions.
• Administer IV therapies, manage central lines, and oversee blood product transfusions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, and Social Services to optimize patient care.
• Implement infection prevention and fall prevention strategies to ensure patient safety.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and symptom management.

• Orientation: 72 hours
• COVID-19 vaccine not required; flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Fingerprinting required after booking; candidates outside the state must complete a mailed packet urgently.
• Current facility employees not eligible; former employees eligible after 6 months away.
