Cytotechnologist (Pathology Lab)

Cytotechnologist

The Cytotechnologist / Cytotech is responsible for preparation and storage of all specimens and necessary documentation. Prepares stains and slides for reading by Cytotechnologist or review by the Pathologist.

Provide patient clinical data or microscopic findings to assist pathologists in the preparation of pathology reports.

Quality Assurance in the laboratory including the maintenance of the system in accordance with the requirements of the College of the American Pathologists and preparation for site visits.

Maintain procedures and records to meet all regulatory standards.

Perform other duties as necessary for efficient operation of the department.

Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.

Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm.

Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.

Prepare and maintain reagents and equipment.

Bachelor's Degree required
