Salary Range: $42.00 - $48.00 Hourly

Job Shift: Day (12-Hour Shift: 7:00AM – 7:30PM)

Schedule: Sunday – Tuesday + every other Wednesday (3/4 alternating schedule)

Location: One of our Orange County residential facilities in Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Capistrano Beach, or Irvine.

At Alter Behavioral Health, every shift matters. As an RN, you play a vital role in ensuring the safety, stability, and overall well‑being of the clients entrusted to our care.

This role goes beyond clinical tasks — it’s about delivering compassionate, attentive care while supporting clients through their mental health and recovery journey.

What You’ll Do Medication Management Administer, dispense, and document medications in accordance with physician orders.

Monitor for side effects and ensure safe medication practices.

Client Monitoring & Care Coordination Observe and assess clients’ physical and mental health status.

Monitor vital signs and respond promptly to changes in condition.

Work closely with physicians, therapists, and residential staff.

Ensure continuity of care through clear communication and teamwork.

Client Support & Engagement Build rapport with clients and provide a supportive, therapeutic presence.

Address health‑related questions and reinforce treatment goals.

Educate clients on medications, wellness practices, and self‑care strategies.

Crisis Intervention & Safety Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies with appropriate clinical judgment.

Utilize de‑escalation techniques and coordinate with clinical staff as needed.

Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems.

Complete nursing notes, assessments, and reports in accordance with regulatory standards.

Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications Compassionate, attentive, and client‑centered.

Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond in high‑pressure situations.

Effective communicator and collaborative team member.

Comfortable working in a residential behavioral health setting.

Committed to ethical, safe, and high‑quality care.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, or substance use disorder settings.

Familiarity with trauma‑informed care practices.

Experience with EMR systems.

Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.

Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Current RN license in California (active and in good standing).

Knowledge of medication administration and mental health care practices.

Ability to safely and effectively interact with clients experiencing psychiatric symptoms.

Requirements Valid California Driver’s License required.

CPR & First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain prior to start).

Must pass Live Scan fingerprint clearance.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements Frequent walking, standing, and movement throughout residential facilities.

Ability to navigate multi‑level homes, including stairs.

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Ability to safely respond to emergency situations.

Ability to operate computers and EMR systems.

Compliance Employment is contingent upon: Successful Live Scan clearance.

Completion of required health screenings, drug testing, and TB testing.

Compliance with DHCS, DSS, Joint Commission standards, HIPAA, and applicable California employment laws.
