Physical therapy assistant knowledge
- The Physical Therapist Assistant, under the direction of a physical therapist, is responsible for assisting with performing tests and providing restorative and rehabilitative physical therapy services to participants.
The Physical Therapist Assistant will work with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement the plan of care established by the physical therapist.

Assist the physical therapist in obtaining vital signs, range of motion, and strength testing.
Coordinate with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement activities and programs based on the participants' individual treatment plans.
Deliver and document physical therapy interventions in accordance with the physical therapist's established care plans, including the use of devices, techniques, activities to promote muscle re-education, and other factors affecting the level of independence in performing activities of daily living.
Provide training and instructions to staff, participants, and families in the use and care of therapeutic equipment.
Track and manage maintenance for equipment.
Participate in end-of-life care coordination and support under the supervision of the physical therapist.
Follow policies and procedures and participate in any required quality improvement activities, staff training, and meetings.
Associates Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
The qualifying Physical Therapy Assistant degree earned outside of the US must be evaluated to the US equivalent.
