Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Neuro Med/Surg unit requiring a PA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.
Details

• Work on an 8th floor Neuro Med/Surg unit within a Level I Trauma Center hospital
• 22-bed unit caring for adult patients with diagnoses including CVA, TIA, seizure, inability to ambulate, and common respiratory or urinary conditions, with rare cardiac cases
• Patient ratios of 5:1 or 6:1
• Utilizes Mindray vital sign machines, GE EKG, and cardiac monitors
• Charting performed in EPIC
• Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 6:45 AM
• 36 guaranteed weekly hours over a 13-week assignment
• Weekend requirement of 2 of every 4 weekends, or 4 of 8 weekend shift days, with option for straight weekends if preferred
• Floating required only rarely, if needed
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required
• 2+ years of RN experience required
• NIH Stroke Scale and Swallow Screen certifications preferred
• Neuro nursing experience preferred
• Competency in dysrhythmia recognition required, with a dysrhythmia and math dosage test administered on day one of orientation
• Must complete all Pennsylvania state clearances, including Child Abuse History Clearance, Department of Human Services Fingerprinting, FBI Department of Aging Fingerprinting, and PATCH PA State Police Clearance
• Drug screen must be completed within 90 days prior to start
• MMR immunization required with no declinations accepted
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
• AHA certifications required

Additional Information
Provide direct nursing care to adult patients on a Neuro Med/Surg unit within a Level I Trauma Center
Work under the supervision of the unit's nurse manager
Facility-specific education and training provided during orientation period
Orientation held weekly on Mondays
Availability for assigned holidays required, to be determined during phone screening
Dress code allows any scrub color; hoodies, t-shirts, graphic or worded shirts, and facial piercings are not permitted
Candidates must reside 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for the travel rate; candidates within 60 miles will be considered at the local rate
Local candidates are accepted
Previous permanent staff employment at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months is not permitted
Candidates may not be employed elsewhere on a full-time basis while on assignment
