Job Title: Hostess Department: Food & Beverage Reports To: Food & Beverage Manager of Designated Outlet FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Location: Frenchman's Creek Country Club

SUMMARY

The Hostess serves as the first and final impression for members and guests dining at the Club and plays an essential role in guiding the flow and presentation of the restaurant. This position is responsible for delivering gracious, polished, and anticipatory hospitality while managing reservations, seating assignments, member preferences, and front-of-house coordination. In a high-end private club environment, the Hostess balances member requests, reservation standards, service pacing, and dining room ambience with confidence, discretion, composure, and effortless elegance. The Hostess works closely with Service, Management, Concierge, and Culinary teams to support a seamless and elevated dining experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Welcome all members and guests with sincere warmth, polished professionalism, and a gracious private-club presence. Manage reservations, seating assignments, and floor plans accurately and efficiently while considering member preferences, reservation standards, party size, timing, and overall service flow. Manage same-day reservation requests and member seating needs in accordance with Club standards, while making every reasonable effort to accommodate member requests and provide suitable dining options. Coordinate with servers, managers, Concierge, and Culinary teams to support smooth seating, service pacing, communication, and overall restaurant operations. Communicates member requests, dietary needs, allergies, celebrations, special occasions, and other relevant information clearly to the appropriate team members. Maintain accurate member dining preferences and utilize available information to support personalized recognition and consistent service. Escort members and guests to their tables with confidence and ensure appropriate menus and service materials are presented according to Club standards. Answer telephone calls and respond to member inquiries promptly and professionally, using approved Club communication standards and proper phone etiquette. Monitor the entrance, host area, and dining room to support an organized, welcoming, and polished member experience. Maintain host and member-facing areas in a clean, organized, fully stocked, and presentation-ready condition at all times. Support the overall ambience and presentation of the outlet by monitoring cleanliness, lighting, music, volume, entrance presentation, and other elements that contribute to the member experience. Support accurate and organized carryout operations and member order fulfillment when applicable. Maintain current knowledge of daily specials, menu changes, service updates, and other information necessary to effectively communicate with members and guests. Assist with special events, VIP preparations, member recognition, personalized service touches, and other front-of-house responsibilities as directed by management. Address member concerns with calm professionalism, discretion, and urgency, and involves management when additional support is required. Prepare and maintain reservation, menu, floor-plan, and other service materials necessary to support daily restaurant operations. Completes assigned opening, service, and closing responsibilities in accordance with Club standards and ensure the host area and required equipment are prepared for service. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS & SERVICE ATTRIBUTES

Previous hosting or front-of-house restaurant experience preferred, particularly in fine dining or private club environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and graciously with members, guests, and colleagues. Exceptional grooming, hygiene, and dress standards, consistently presenting a polished and professional appearance. Excellent telephone etiquette and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain composed in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing reservations, seating assignments, member preferences, special requests, and service preparation. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with Service, Concierge, Culinary, and Management teams. Demonstrates poise, discretion, anticipation, composure, and a genuine commitment to gracious member hospitality.

EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must consistently adhere to Club dress code and grooming standards. Commitment to providing exceptional service to the Club's membership and guests.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate effectively with members, guests, and coworkers both verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and communicate service information, member requests, and operational instructions clearly and professionally.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to exercise sound judgment in routine service situations, prioritize competing needs, identify appropriate solutions, and seek management assistance when necessary. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with members, guests, coworkers, and other departments.
