Paramedic Emergency Department - Evening/Night

Casual Emergency Room Technician (ERT)Fairview is looking for a casual Emergency Room Technician (ERT) to join our ED team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center (East Bank) in Minneapolis, MN.The Emergency Room Technician (ERT) assists the professional nurse in delivering patient care, transporting patients and equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and managing supplies. Depending on unit needs and the discretion of the professional nurse, the ERT may be assigned patient care responsibilities.Schedule: This position is casual and will work a variety of 12 hour day/evening/ and night shifts with weekends as needed.Job Expectations:Provides patient care:Transports patients by wheelchair and cartAssists patients with ambulation and positioningInforms RN of patient/family observations and concernsPromptly responds to patient call lights/requestsDemonstrates concern for patient dignity, privacy, and confidentialityPerforms tasks with adaptations or modifications consistent with patients ages and developmental abilitiesObtains ordered specimens from patientTransports specimens and blood productsDemonstrates adherence to proper proceduresAssists in resuscitationFunctions as nurse extender: assists nurses with patient care activitiesDocuments patient care activities and procedures on the nursing records.Documentation is clear, concise, accurate and timelyMaintains room/unit and supplies:Restocks room, supplies, and cartsAssists with patient room clean-up between patientsCompletes room and cart checklistPerforms quality control checks on designated pieces of equipmentCompletes quality control checklistReports discrepancies and malfunctions to charge nurse or managerRequired Qualifications (Must have BLS certification and ONE of the following):Current EMT or ERT certificationCurrent Paramedic certificationCertified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the MN RegistryEnrolled in an LPN, RN, or NP program (with at least 1 completed clinical semester)Six months of recent hands-on patient care experience (acute, long-term, or home care)Completed Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training programLPN licensurePreferred Qualifications:1+ years of Emergency Department experience (EMT, ERT, paramedic, scribe, etc.)Current experience as a CNA or NSTBenefit Overview:Fairview offers a generous benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, PTO/vacation and Safe and Sick Time, tuition reimbursement, retirement and more!
