This person will be part of an integrated team responsible for the mechanical design in support of Data Center and other Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. This individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger mechanical engineers. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing projects from start to finish. This will include coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing members, and all other team members. They will be responsible for developing feasibility reports, construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and performing RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation and overall construction administration. Passion, self-motivation, and strong leadership skills are a must to deliver technically excellent design solutions for our clients. Additional responsibilities include:In the role of Mechanical/Senior Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to:Coordinate the work of the mechanical design team through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a projectEstablish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code complianceCoordinate workload to complete the document on scheduleConduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplinesReview mechanical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplinesWrite and edit mechanical specifications, selects equipment, mechanical systems and devicesCoordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documentsProvide construction contract administration as neededConduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators or Mechanical CAD Technicians as neededPerform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasisA minimum of 3 years experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildingsData Center/Mission Critical facilities design experienceExperience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not requiredQualificationsRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Previous experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license Experience in commercial or institutional facilities Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firmAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We BelieveHDR is our company.
