University of Maryland Capital Region Health is seeking an enthusiastic Family Medicine Physician to join our Family Medicine Residency Program as a Faculty Physician in Largo, Maryland.
This is an opportunity for a physician who loves the full scope of Family Medicine but also gets excited about teaching, mentoring, asking great questions, sharing what they've learned, and watching residents grow from learners into confident, independent physicians.

As a Faculty Physician, you'll teach residents how to deliver compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered care while demonstrating the professionalism, curiosity, collaboration, and lifelong learning that define an exceptional Family Medicine physician.
You'll work alongside residents in both ambulatory and inpatient settings, helping them build the clinical judgment and confidence they need to practice independently.
And one of the best parts? From coaching through challenging cases to celebrating those moments when everything finally "clicks," your influence will extend far beyond the walls of the clinic.
Supervise and teach Family Medicine residents in inpatient and ambulatory settings.
Serve as a trusted mentor and advisor as residents navigate their clinical and professional development.
Provide formal and informal resident evaluations with thoughtful, actionable feedback.
Curriculum Development: Help develop, implement, assess, and continually improve the residency curriculum.
Resident Recruitment: Participate in interviewing and selecting future residents for the program.
Scholarly Activity: Collaborate with residents on scholarly activities while modeling curiosity and lifelong learning.
Partner with the Program Director, Chief Residents, GME leadership, and fellow faculty to advance program goals and initiatives.
Faculty Development: Continue growing your own skills as a clinician and medical educator.
Organizational Leadership: Participate in hospital committees and Graduate Medical Education meetings as appropriate.

In addition to your faculty responsibilities, you'll continue caring for your own patients and maintaining an active clinical practice.
Dedicated independent patient-care time of at least one half-day per week without residents or students, consistent with ACGME Family Medicine faculty requirements
Precepting Family Medicine residents for up to five half-day sessions per week within the Family Medicine practice site
Providing safe, high-quality, cost-effective, patient-centered Family Medicine care
Working collaboratively with physicians, APPs, nurses, residents, students, and other members of the healthcare team
Participating in the shared clinical and academic responsibilities of the program, which may occasionally include night and weekend coverage
As with many academic faculty positions, responsibilities may vary based on the needs of the residency program, clinical service, learners, and patients.

Hold an unrestricted Maryland medical license
Meet requirements for active membership in good standing on the UM Capital Region Health Medical Staff
Be qualified by training and experience in Family Medicine
Meet applicable ACGME requirements for Family Medicine faculty
Hold current certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians
Maintain applicable professional memberships, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and Maryland Academy of Family Physicians
