Role Description The Nurse Practitioner is a full‑time, on‑site role based at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis, MI. This role provides advanced nursing care to residents, including conducting assessments, diagnosing common conditions, developing and managing treatment plans, and prescribing medications within scope of practice. The Nurse Practitioner collaborates closely with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and other care team members to ensure coordinated, resident‑centered care across the continuum of services. Daily responsibilities include monitoring chronic conditions, responding to acute health concerns, performing routine health evaluations, and educating residents and families on care plans, health maintenance, and lifestyle choices. The role also involves documentation in the medical record, participation in care conferences, adherence to regulatory and safety standards, and contribution to quality improvement initiatives that support the mission of compassionate, holistic care.

Qualifications Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Michigan and national certification (e.g., ANCC or AANP) in an appropriate specialty such as Adult‑Gerontology or Family Practice.

Demonstrated clinical skills in primary care, geriatrics, or long‑term care, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of chronic and acute conditions.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams in a respectful, collaborative manner.

Solid organizational and documentation abilities, with proficiency in electronic health records and adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.

Commitment to compassionate, person‑centered care, with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, faith traditions, and individual preferences.

Ability to work independently within defined protocols, exercise sound clinical judgment, and respond effectively in urgent or complex situations.

Prior experience in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, or retirement communities is preferred.
